New Zealand’s 3,000km journey: TE ARAROA
Te Araroa is New Zealand's Trail - taking in spectacular New Zealand landscapes from beaches to volcanoes to forests to cities.
The 3,000km route stretching from Bluff in the South of New Zealand to Cape Reinga in the North. It was officially opened December 3rd, 2011 by the Governor-General of New Zealand, Sir Jerry Mateparae.
Te Araroa is the greatest New Zealand adventure there is - and should be on every Kiwi's bucket list.
Walk it all, walk it in your lifetime, walk New Zealand - walk Te Araroa!
I will be hiking my way across both New Zealand's islands, South and North, with the occasion kayak where required (and to mix things up a bit).
And what does Te Araroa mean?
"Te Araroa" is Maori for "the long pathway", and that's exactly what it is. A long pathway that'll take me the length of New Zealand.
Te = The
Ara = Pathway
Roa = Long
